League Charter Amendment #1: Keeper Rules

1. Amount of keepers

All teams will be able to keep up to 4 keepers but are not required to keep all 4.

2. Length of keepers

No player can be kept longer than three years.  This is based on player, not on team. The 4th year a player is available he must be released into the pool at which time his status is reset and can be kept again for three years.

Example: Adrian Peterson is kept by team A for 2015 and 2016 and then traded to team B for the 2017 year. Team B must release him after the 2017 season.

3. Keepers will be locked 1 week before the draft and at least 1 week after the 1st week of the preseason.

4.  Keeper Penalties

If  player is kept the team will forfeit a draft round pick for that player.  Draft pick forfeited will be defined by the following criteria.

A. Draft Acquisition

If the player is drafted by the team keeping him the team will lose the same draft pick as the player was drafted the first time.

a1.  For the 2nd year the player is kept the team will lose 1 draft pick 1 round higher than the player was originally drafted. This penalty is based on the player not the team. If the player is traded the penalty will follow the player to the new team. The penalty is only reset if the player is dropped and claimed by a different team other than the original drafting team. The penalty will be reapplied if at any point the original drafting team reaquires the player either through trades or waivers.

a2. For the 3rd year the player is kept the team will lose 1 draft pick 2 rounds higher than the player was originally drafted. This penalty is based on the player not the team. If the player is traded the penalty will follow the player to the new team. The penalty is only reset if the player is dropped and claimed by a different team other than the original drafting team. The penalty will be reapplied if at any point the original drafting team reaquires the player either through trades or waivers.

a3. Players cannot be kept longer than 3 years and must be released. This is based on the player not the team.

B.  Waiver Acquisition

If the player is acquired by waivers and then kept the team will be penalized 1 draft round pick 2 rounds lower than the player is being ranked by the Fantasy Pros PPR Consensus Rankings on a day designated by the commissioner. The rankings list will be posted for the league to see. The commissioner will use the rankings consensus from all experts who have updated rankings no older than 7 days.
b1.  For the 2nd year the player is kept the team will lose 1 draft pick 1 round higher than the original penalty. The penalty follows the player not the team. If the player is traded the penalty will follow the player to the new team. The penalty is only reset if the player is dropped and claimed by a different team other than the original drafting team. The penalty will be reapplied if at any point the original drafting team reaquires the player either through trades or waivers.
b2. For the 3rd year the player is kept the team will lose 1 draft pick 2 rounds higher than the original penalty. The penalty follows the player not the team. If the player is traded the penalty will follow the player to the new team. The penalty is only reset if the player is dropped and claimed by a different team other than the original drafting team. The penalty will be reapplied if at any point the original drafting team reaquires the player either through trades or waivers.
b3. Players cannot be kept longer than 3 years and must be released. This is based on the player not the team.

C. Trade Acquisition

If the player is acquired by trade all penalties are based on the original team’s acquisition method.

5. Penalty Clarification

A. No team may keep more than one player per round. If through acquisition a team has 2 or more players valued in the same round they may only keep 1 of the players and must release the other players.
B. If a team trades their draft pick and then keeps a player valued in that round the team will forfeit their next highest available draft pick.
